The story of Localyze
For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about living and working abroad. From Shanghai to Portugal, I lived across several countries for much of the past decade, and along the way, I picked up six languages. These experiences gave me amazing opportunities, but they also revealed how complex, and at times, discouraging it can be to move internationally for work.
Unless you have lived it, it’s impossible to understand how difficult it is to navigate immigration: endless paperwork, unclear requirements, and uncertainty at every stage. My co-founders Lisa Dahlke and Franzi Löw had similar experiences, and it was through these challenges that the idea of Localyze was born. We had the shared belief that talent should move freely across borders and that companies should be empowered to support their people.
From a global shutdown to a force for change
It was probably the worst time to found a company in global mobility and immigration. Within months of starting, COVID struck, and the world shut down. Borders closed, the shift to remote work accelerated, and then came the push back to offices. The very foundation of our industry was turned upside down.
But step by step, we found a way forward. Each client who trusted us proved the need was real. Each successful relocation reminded me why we started. And against all odds, we managed to build something truly great.
Our technology-forward approach, designed to streamline global mobility for both employers and employees, has been adopted by customers such as Flix, DeliveryHero, Babbel, and Roland Berger.
New beginnings
After a successful 8 years of helping hundreds of companies move top talent beyond borders, we are happy to take the next big step. Localyze is joining forces with Boundless.
In Boundless, we recognize more than a partner; we found a team with the same mission, values, and drive. While we focused primarily on Europe, they were addressing the same challenges across the Americas. Two companies, separated by geography but aligned in vision, are now coming together to remove barriers globally.

As a founder, one of the most rewarding moments is when your vision expands beyond what you initially imagined.
